Snow Days

Today was supposed to be the return to school. I say supposed to be because
the public schools were cancelled due to a dusting of snow and frigid temperatures. Same for tomorrow. While Mac got an extra day off, the rest of us did a little to get back into the swing of things. Then Abigail and I snuggled on the couch and read a few chapters of this:

Perfect! Don't you think?

  1. Yesterday I spoke to my sister about this book. She hasn't read *any* of this series so the princess is going to lend the books to her.

Your book looks quite old and well loved. The best. :o)

...and yes, perfect book for your day(s).

  5. Absolutely perfect!
We are supposed to be getting a couple days of heavy rain here, which could spell impending disaster for alot of the burn areas here in southern California...
Wish that we could just get some snow *smile*

  10. Oh, my, your new header is so lovely. Really!

And yes, that Long Winter really is the longest of the Laura Ingalls books. When I used to read that in 3rd grade class I'd think, "Get on with it". I needed some excitement.

    Enjoy!!

And thank you for your very sweet comment.

    Keep warm.

  11. I love the Little House books! I actually have first editions of the whole series illustrated by Garth Williams. They are pretty bedraggled though... I used to read and read them as a child.

I think The Long Winter is my favorite one.

  13. Of course! I love that book the most out of the series, even though it is frightening at times, and rather dark. The lessons abound!
I love to think of you and Abigail snuggling together while reading this... :)

On a side note: Did you notice the picutes are by Garth Williams? Patrick's dad dated his daughter once upon a time - it really is small world:)

  19. I LOVE those books. I got some off of Bookmooch. com that look like your book-old and worn. I love that they look like the ones I read as a child.

Laura Grace loves the series now and I am sure will love them even more when she can really understand them.
