Housekeeping Meme
I read this over at Lula's Hardt and Kindred Haven, so here goes:
Aprons? Yes. I prefer a full apron to just the skirt style. My girls enjoy them, too. And, my husband always has such sweet comments when he enters the kitchen and I'm wearing an apron.
Baking - favorite thing to bake? Cookies. I am the cookie queen. Plus, I love to eat the chocolate chip cookie dough.
Clothesline? Yes! I have about 90 feet of clothesline. I love the aroma of line dried cloth! I do not like my towels hung out though.
Donuts - ever made them? No, but I'd like to at some point.
Everyday - one homemaking thing you do everyday? One??? Dishes, tidy each room, Swiffer the hardwood, and I'm always doing laundry.
Freezer - do you have a separate freezer? We have a 2nd refrigerator which has a small freezer. We also have an upright freezer.
Garbage Disposal? No. I have never had one. They scare me to tell you the truth.
Housekeeping Handbook? No, but I have seen examples, and they look handy.
Ironing - love it or hate it? Neither. I do it without complaining, but it isn't my favorite pastime.
Junk Drawer? Yes, two actually. In my baker's rack in the dining room.
Kitchen - design & decorating? Yellow walls, bone color ceramic tile floor, light green counter tops. We collect Kern's Bread signs, and they grace the walls. The signs are a golden yellow with navy and bright red lettering. Very cheery!
Love - your favorite part of homemaking? Preparing a delicious meal, and having the entire family gather around the table to enjoy the food and fellowship.
Mop? No. Collin does my floors on his hands and knees. What a sweetie!
Nylons - wash them by hand or in the washer? By hand!
Oven - do you use the window or open it to check? I open it.
Pizza - what do you put on yours? I love pepperoni, black olives, and banana peppers, but I'll eat just about anything.
Quiet - what do you do during the day when you get a quiet moment? Read, pray, look through a cook book, blog, write letters.
Recipe Card Box? Yes, and No. I have a box, and cookbooks with bits of paper in my own shorthand, and in my head. I am such an organized person, except in this area. But, I know where every recipe is!
Style of house? Traditional with a bit of antique and country.
Tablecloths & napkins? Yes, I love a pretty table. We have used cloth napkins for about seven years now. I love it!
Under the kitchen sink? Garbage bags, dish soap, dishwasher soap, cutting boards, vases, water bottles.
Vacuum - how many times per week? Two, most often. I used to vacuum every day...now we Swiffer all of the hardwood everyday.
Wash- How many loads do you do a week? 14-20 depending on the week. My new front loading machine seems to be helping me do fewer loads.
X’s- Do you keep a list of things to do and cross them off? Yes for groceries, and for children's chores. No for my own.
Yard - who does what? My husband and sons do the mowing, and trimming. The children and I weed the flower beds. I plant flowers, and everyone helps in the vegetable garden.
