Sideways

Do you ever have days when you *think* that you have a plan and then it all goes sideways? Yes, well, that is exactly what happened to me today.

Verne and Mac are running a half marathon in the morning, so I wanted to make a big batch of homemade spaghetti sauce for supper tonight. Yes, a half marathon. 13.1 miles. Yes, I know, they are crazy! But, being the adoring wife and good mother(ahem...) I set about to load them with carbs. Halfway through preparing the sauce I had to take Mac to work. Not a problem. I can finish as soon as I get back.

Oh yes, I've been feeling an UTI coming on for several days now, and couldn't ignore it any longer. I called the doctor half an hour before taking Mac, hoping that he would phone me in a prescription. He was busy, and would have to call me back. I got a call on my cell phone while I was in the car. It was the doctor's office. They wanted to do a urine culture, and could I be there at 3:15? Okay, sure.

So, I got back home, finished my sauce, and went back out to see the doctor. Thankfully, Verne arrived home from work early today and he drove me to the doctor. So sweet! With the doctor being 35 minutes away, and time to kill while waiting for a prescription, I had company. We were able to do our Easter shopping while waiting for the prescription.

We rushed back home, I cooked the spaghetti, and we ate a very quick meal because Verne had to rush back out to pick Mac up from work. This was not at all the leisurely, wonderful dinner that I had planned!

After dinner, and the dishes were done, Autumn, Collin, Abigail, and I packed into Grandma's room, and we watched one of my favorite Hallmark movies, The Magic of Ordinary Days. I bought it during our shopping trip yesterday and I wanted to share it with Grandma, as I knew that she would really enjoy it.

So, the day that went sideways ended up okay after all!

I'm glad your sideways day ultimately turned out pretty good, it sounds like! I'm sorry to hear about your UTI, those are nasty little things, but I'm glad you got seen today so you can feel better soon. I love Hallmark movies, but haven't seen that one yet, I'll have to check it out:)

Glad your day ended up okay even if it did go sideways for awhile. I seem to have a lot of those days.

I love Hallmark movies, and I really love the Hallmark channel. I haven't seen that paricular movie yet.

Have a wonderful weekend,

The Magic of Ordinary Days ... what a beautiful movie! We taped it when it was on but I'd like to purchase the DVD.

Those hurry up too much to do type days make my head whirl!

Let us know how Verne and Mac do in their 1/2-marathon. :o)

What starts sideways - leaves me often feeling - "where am I".

You will have to tell me the secret how to get back on track.

Wonderful post. Eager to know more above the hallmark movie you mentioned.

Blessings to you all and for the weekend too.

It sounds like the movie you ended the day with had a very fitting title! :)

I haven't seen it, but if you love it, then perhaps I shall have to!

How did the 1/2 marathon go?
