A Day of Rest

A big pot of comfort...
Thank you so much for all of your well wishes! I slept for six, yes six hours yesterday. I woke feeling no better, but my dear husband made supper and I felt better knowing that I didn't have to cook. I was able to sleep surprisingly well last night, considering all of theZzzzz's I had yesterday.

This morning I woke, and took a very hot shower. I felt better for a few brief minutes until the stuffiness set back in. Oh dear. We are going through loads of tissues! Verne and the children headed off to Sunday school and church. Grandma emerged from her room, and she and I sat and chatted.

I pulled some frozen broth from the freezer this morning, and after I set it on a warm burner to thaw, I headed for the Bible. After some reading, and prayer time, I made my way back to the kitchen where I cut some carrots to put in the broth. I also skinned and boned the leftover chicken from Wednesday's meal. This, too, went into the broth. Now, for some noodles, and I'll be all set.

God is so good. Several weeks ago, I cooked three large chickens, and froze lots of broth. I was able to prepare a nourishing and satisfying meal today with minimal effort because He directed my path! Praise be to God!

This afternoon I'll retreat to the couch with a small quilting project or a book.

Yes. It did taste as good as it looks!

Hey Tracy, I'm just getting caught up on my blog reading/commenting, and see you're not feeling well. I'm sorry to hear that! I just prayed for you, and a quick recovery.
The soup looks delicious and very filling. I can't think of anything I like more when I'm sick!

Yum. E. (That's "yummy" when Elise is really hungry!)
Glad you're doing a little better - I missed the previous post mentioning you were down! Okay, it's spring now, no more sickies! :)

That chicken soup looks delicious. Nothing like it for cold. My 21 year old called tonight from out of town where he lives. He is sick. Two hours away, a fever, needing mama's TLC and nothing I can do. I remember when I was sick in college for the first time and I just wanted my bed and my mama. Oh, I hate not being there to make him some soup. I hope you feel better by tomorrow. More soup will help :)

Oh, and thank you so much for yours and Autumn's sweet, sweet comments and prayers. You both are such sweethearts.

I'm so glad you could catch up on sleep.
That's what we try to do at our house here too when we are sick: rest, sleep, soup, fruits and juices.
The soup does look delicious.
I hope you continue to feel better.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Soup looks yummy! I too stayed home from church yesterday. My 2 year old daughter was sick this weekend, tonight is the first she is feeling better. *My* Colin stayed home too, since he is just 4 months old - it is easier to keep him home than to put him in the church nursery and risk him picking something up there. That was neat to learn that about you!
