Mac

Today is my firstborn's sixteenth birthday. Where did the time go? It seems like just yesterday that I held him in my arms for the very first time, and felt a love so strong that I was overwhelmed at how my God must love me.

Mackenzie, or Mac as he now likes to be called, and I have grown up together. I was just twenty years old when he was born. I like to think that he has helped make me who I am today.

Mac has always been mature. Seriously. Everyone said he was like a little old man. He's always had a deep voice, but a very high pitched infectious giggle. Especially when he is tired. Instead of getting grumpy, he just giggles at everything. It's still the same today.

He's a natural leader, and loves to take charge. He's respectful, and kind. He's gentle, and patient. He loves music. It has consumed him! He's always singing, and making sound effects. He is most relaxed with a guitar in his hands.

Mac has accomplished quite a bit for his age. He went to public school through second grade, and was then home schooled for 5 1/2 years. He returned to public school in the middle of eighth grade. He has played football, kept stats for basketball, and is in Boy Scouts. He's been in NJROTC, represented the school in various academic competitions, and kept all A's. He's in National Honor Society, and Who's Who Among American High School Students. He works a part-time job at a small restaurant.

Most importantly, Mac knows who he is. He knows that he belongs to the Lord. He knows that God gave him his talents, and he gives back. I'm proud to be his mother. Happy Birthday, Mac.

I have to tell you all that when Mac viewed these posts about him, he was quiet, and then gave me a big kiss and a hug! My heart melted! Thanks for all of your sweet comments!
