Vintage Fun

Leigh Ann posted a Sesame Street video this morning. It brought back many memories when she posed the question "What are your favorite Sesame Street moments?" I loved this segment as a child. I also remember my mom singing this song to me at a very early age. By the time I had children, they only showed this once in a while during the show. Oh how Sesame Street has changed. I hope that you enjoy this as much as I do...

I loved this one too. But I have to admit (and I'm showing my age here) I never watched Sesame Street as a child. I was 10 years old when my brother was born, and I remember watching it with him when he was a toddler. So it was BMT, Before My Time.

By the way, as much as I love Sesame Street, I have this sociological theory (degree in Soc, sorry!) that it alone has ruined every generation it has touched. Entertainment in 2 minute bytes. Being a teacher I see how quickly we have to keep things moving - constantly - and keep them entertained. They look at you like, "Make me laugh!" I blame Big Bird and Kermit for that :)

I didn't watch Sesame Street, but I still loved this. It was so cute. Especially the cats... well, I can never resist cats :)

Way better than Barney!(Blech.)

Do you remember the Electric Company? It was a show that came on either right before, or right after Sesame Street.(Back in the day ;-)

I don't remember that song. Hmmm... I only have faint memories of just the characters. I think I watched more of the Dukes of Hazard than Sesame Street! LOL

Have a great weekend!

Becky,

I do understand your theory, but I would have to respectfully disagree. It's too bad that more children don't watch Sesame Street. Instead they watch mindless junk. There are many children entering kindergarten today that can't count, recognize letters, colors, etc. Perhaps if the watched more Sesame Street and less Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, etc. they would be better off!

Best case scenario, mothers would read to and teach their children. Since that is not the norm, but plunking children in front of the TV is, I think this is a helpful show!

That is very sweet, and yes, it has change quite a bit since then. I remember watching sesame street as a little girl.
