Today is...

National Hug Your Cat Day. Chester is very happy that we made it home in time to celebrate this special occasion. Thank you, Darlene, for taking such good care of him. He purred all night long. And I don't think that I've ever heard him meow so much. Go hug your cat!

Applesauce Cake Day. To celebrate the day, I made a recipe of Grandma's. It just came out of the oven, and has the entire house smelling wonderful! Here's the recipe:

100 Year Old Applesauce Cake

1 cup applesauce
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
2 cups flour
1 tsp each of cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg
1 cup raisins

Combine ingredients and pour into a greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 for about an hour.

The cake sounds yummy! I will have to try the recipe sometime soon. I have some applesauce that I need to use up.
