Stepping Stones

The house is quiet. Eerily so. Collin left for Boy Scout Camp on Sunday afternoon. Verne and Mac joined him there yesterday. There is no trace of testosterone left in the house. THIS is how we got to see Nancy Drew yesterday. My friend Jennifer has an empty house too. Even more so than mine since she has all boys. Her men are with mine in the middle of the woods.

Jennifer invited the girls, Grandma , and me over today. Grandma declined the invitation, but the girls and I had a lovely time. She told us to wear clothes that could get dirty but we had no clue as to what we were going to do. Jen is re-doing her bathroom, so we thought perhaps we were being recruited to help paint. Nah! She had something cool for us to do.

As we arrived, Jennifer was in the garage. We quickly learned that we would be making mosaic patio stones. This was a new craft for the girls and me, but Jen knew what she was doing. She graciously instructed, guided, and helped us to complete our projects.

Abigail made a big yellow star.

Autumn made a butterfly. Do you see the flower in the left-hand corner?

I made a turtle walking toward three flowers. There's also a bee in the upper left corner.

We stopped in the middle of the project to feast on a wonderful lunch. Jen had the table beautifully set, and made us feel special. It was truly a girls' day out. Even Daisy had fun playing with Eli, the Springer Spaniel.

I love being married to my best friend, but I'm also thankful that God has given me female friends to enjoy. I'm especially thankful for Godly woman friends. I love to see other women waiting on their husbands with a cheerful countenance, and caring for their families with joy. I notice how a woman reacts to her husband's requests, touch, and presence in the room. I can tell if she is happy to be with him, or if he annoys her. I wonder what people see when they watch me. I hope that they see the same traits that I see in Jennifer.

You are so talenetd Tracy...I love the turtle!
When I see you with Verne or even when he isn't there and you are just talking about him,the love you have from him just floods the room..your eyes glow and you have a contentment and joy that I can't describe with words but I do know what it is and I understand it because I feel the same way about Allen .(sighs dreamily)
(Do I look as lovestruck as you when I talk about Allen?? I just love him (sighs again, with much contenment);-)

Friends are so wonderful. Godly friends who encourage and strengthen us in our walk and talk.

The mosaics are beautiful. Was that difficult? Were they a kit? I would love to do something like that.

Tina,

Yes, you do gush when talking about Allen. You are another wonderful example. I love to see couples holding hands, etc.

And thank you for letting me know that I appear to enjoy Verne.

Haus Frau,
Thank you for your sweet comment, also. I do hope that others can see the love and respect I have for my husband.

Susan,
These were not in a kit, and they were not hard to do, but they were time consuming. I loved it though, and may have to invest in some supllies of my own!

Jennifer,

These lovely creations came home with us. Wasn't that sweet?

Beautiful!!

What a fun project!

It is so exciting to find couples that are more in love with each other now than when they first got married-it is rare and so special!

What a wonderful friendship you share! I also love those mosaics. I would love to do them with my girls. We have only tried a flower pot and it turned out really well.

I'm glad you had such a fun girl's day.

My girls have been begging for months to make these, actually since last summer. A friend of ours bought a kit and her daughter made them, although hers were not nearly as pretty. I would love to make some, maybe we'll try. I think it might require more supplies than the kits provide though, they don't have these pretty tiles.

A girly day is so much fun. Good for you. It makes you appreciate your boys even more for their differences. And wow! Those are beautiful mosaics. I'd love to make one too.
