Advance Preparation = Good Eats

It would be easy to fall into a pattern of having a quick meal every Sunday. After all, we're out of the house early for Sunday school and worship. The males residing in the house have a Boy Scout meeting every Sunday afternoon, and time is sparse. However, frozen casseroles and the like that can cook while we are at church are a huge benefit.

Today was Spaghetti and meatballs. Not a casserole , you say? True. But the sauce is easily frozen. I defrosted it in the sink overnight, and popped it in the oven this morning. When we arrived home from worship, I cooked the noodles, assembled a quick green salad, and sliced some Italian bread.

Before I hopped into the shower this morning, I assembled Anna's cake and popped it into the oven. It cooled on the counter until we arrived home. Mmmm... satisfaction with little effort on a day ordained to rest!

That looks delicious - I love to use my crockpot on Sundays.

Also, I have to try that cake recipe. It looks so good.

We think alike!!! I enjoy spending time Saturday afternoon or evening making something to come home from church to eat!! I actually just posted my chicken croquette recipe on my cooking blog - that is one I can pull out of the freezer and put on the baking sheet before church. They thaw while at church and the time bake starts and we come home to a warm meal. All I need to do is reheat potatoes (unless they are in the oven too) and warm up some gravy!! That dessert looks scrumptious!! :)

Mmmm, spaghetti is one of my favorites for Sunday meals, too. And don't you just love Anna's cake! I've made it half a dozen times already.

Yum! I am definitely going to have to try Anna's cake. It looks delicious.

I'm with Gena, I use my crockpot just about every Sunday. It's great too, b/c with just the two of us, I can freeze the leftovers for Wednesday night when we are short on time with church activities.
