Pretzel Rods...from good to better!

I know. It's very hard to improve on a pretzel rod. They are a near perfect food, in my opinion. But, add a little vanilla almond bark, and let the fun begin!

We started the evening with this fun little project.

Here's what you need:

pretzel rods
vanilla almond bark, or white chocolate; melted
gumdrops
granulated sugar
mini chocolate chips
fruit by the foot

Spoon a little melted almond bark or white chocolate over the pretzel, leaving at least one half uncovered. Add mini- chocolate chips for the eyes, mouth, and buttons. Pinch off very small pieces of an orange gum-drop, and roll the tiny piece in sugar, forming your "carrot" nose.

Wrap a piece of fruit by the foot around your snowman for a scarf, and if you would like, attach a gumdrop hat! Easy enough for the littlest hands, and fun enough for the big hands too! Lay your creations on waxed paper to allow the almond bark time to set up. Enjoy!

We made about 15, and then took some pretzel rods, slathered them with more almond bark, and drizzled Christmas nonpareils over them. Allow them to dry on waxed paper until set. Beautiful!

What a great idea! These would be perfect for our house where we have all levels of ages, ability, and ahem, perfectionism. I love all of your projects. Show and Tell brought me here, but I will be back!
Thanks so much for sharing:-)

What a fun idea! My kids and I usually dip regular pretzels in almond bark and put sprinkles on them. We'll have to add pretzel rods to the bunch now.
Thank you for sharing!

Another great recipe! I'll have to try this with my 8yo. I think he'd enjoy it! I still plan on trying the hard tack candy and peanut brittle recipes.

Thanks for the nice comment at my blog! I thought of a skirt for my dd too, but she's 16. The last thing I made for her was an ipod case. (It did turn out pretty cute) I miss having a little girl! I was also thinking that fabric would make a really cute bag. Hmmm, I wonder how far I can stretch 2 yards...

Tracy, what a great idea! We are going to have to try that because I totally agree that chocolate covered pretzels are the perfect snack.

Also, I want to thank you for all the great homeschooling ideas you shared in your last post. I am keeping note of these things and am sure they will come in handy in the future. You are a blessing!

these are some of my FAVORITE!

I made these last year and gave them to my friends as work. Something else to try... sprinkle crushed peppermints over the pretzels. It makes them so festive, with red and green peppermints ~ and oh so yummy!

hope you enjoy yours as much as I did mine!

Those are beautiful and I love the salty/sweet combo! I have to tell you that I just saw a package of 4 pretzel rods at Harry & David and I think they were about $10.00! Can you believe it? Yours are just as beautiful and I know they are delicious. I will be making these for my neighbors this Christmas.
