If at first you don't succeed...
try, try again. In this case, I only had to try again. Once. I cut my pattern at the next smaller size, and I used French seams everywhere I could. In fact, the only seams that aren't French is where the skirt is attached to the bodice, and where the sleeves are attached. What does this mean? This dress is actually two sizes smaller than the first one I made.
And guess what? I decided to rip the first one apart, and re-sew it. It's much cuter in the correct size! So cute, in fact, that I've worn this one twice already.

The dress has soft lines that flatter nicely. French seams. Never tried that before. Watched the tutorial but I may be too chicken to try it myself. ;o)
