Missing in Action

I haven't fallen off of the face of the earth. Yet. I've just been busy. You may recall that last month I went to the doctor to be diagnosed with bronchitis. A week and a half ago, I returned to the doctor. My regular doctor. I had to see someone else last time. I requested a chest x-ray because I'm still coughing. All. Day. Long. Every. Day. It's really gotten to be a drag. The chest x-ray was clear, and I was told I may have seasonal asthma. Great. Now I'm taking an inhaled steroid. And guess what? Nine days later, it isn't helping yet. Ughhh... I also got a flu shot. Isn't that fun? So, I suck on cough drops. And drink hot tea. And suffer in between.

You may also remember that my transmission went out of my van the same day that I was diagnosed with bronchitis. And so, I've been sitting at home, which isn't so bad except that I have children who attend music lessons, and such. We bought a very used car this past Monday. A '97 Honda Accord to be exact. It runs great, and I can leave the house again, and it gets great gas mileage. But I do miss my mini van.

I've been baking, and enjoying my children, and watching the leaves flutter to the ground. And soon, it will be another season, and maybe, just maybe, this seasonal asthma will leave me in time for Christmas.

I'll be praying for you. Have you tried taking a spoonful of local honey? My daughter had something like that and we bought some local honey and she started taking a tablespoon of it every day and her allergies cleared up.

Oh, Tracy--constant coughing is just terrible--You poor thing. Try sipping very warm lemonade. I have asthma also--so I know the struggles to breath, it is no fun. Gentle prays for you my friend, that you feel better soon.

Oh I sure hope you get some relief soon! I've definitely missed your daily posts, but certainly understand that being sick takes a lot out of you!

Have a wonderful rest of the week!

I can feel your frustration over the coughing all the way from here! Take very good care of yourself, and get lots of rest ~ it won't hurt you, even if it doesn't seem to help much.

So sorry you are feeling bad, Tracy. I will keep you in my prayers.

I also have seasonal allergies and something that helps me is nettle tea with some sage added. The nettle provides the antihistamine and the sage soothes the throat. If you have a health food store near you, you may want to try some. I should cost less than $3.00. If you don't have a health food store, I would be happy to send you some. Just let me know!

I have seasonal asthma too, Tracy. I have more than a rescue inhaler to combat it though. I do one toot a day of Advair then use my rescue inhaler as needed, which is rare anymore thank the Lord. Takes time to build up. 9 days isn't long in this case, I'm sorry to tell you that.

I do believe a course of Prednisone would be beneficial ... kind of knock it out of the field type action, especially since you've also been battling bronchitis. When I get a cold virus I develop a real difficult time breathing so I also have a nebulizer with which I breath in steamed albuteral. I usually do a course in Prednisone too.

Gotta be real careful with albuteral (or substitutes). Make absolutely certain you're doing it right, in order to make it work effectively. Did the doc/nurse go step by step with you? It'd make a difference in the effect it'll have on you.

Okay. That's my 'pinion. Stepping down off my soapbox (but it's ever so lovely being taller). ;o)

I'm so sorry that you're still suffering from this cough. Last year, I had a cold that ran for well over a month, and I finally ended up having to go to the doctor to make sure that it wasn't bronchitis...It wasn't. It was just a bad cold. They gave me a codeine-based cough medicine to take for a few nights just to help me get some sleep...I'll pray for you, Tracy. Have you ever tried Russian tea? It's made with Tang, instant lemonade, instant tea, and some spices. I don't know why, but it always makes me feel better when I have a cold. If you'd like a recipe for it, I'd be glad to type it up.

I am so sorry to hear that you are still struggling with that nasty coug. I wonder what in the area could be causing the problem? Because I am suffering too - oh, to be able to breath again.
I will pray that we both feel 100% SOON!!!!!

Sorry that you have still been feeling badly! Praying that it clears up soon!
Praise the Lord for the new (to you) car! I would have a hard time going back to a car from my van but I guess it is better than nothing.

((Tracy)) ~ I do hope you're beginning to feel better! I suffered from winter asthma when we lived in Maine (so I was told), but it did eventually go away (so I'm not so sure). Nowadays, I just have to be really diligent about fighting any cough at the very first hint of one coming on.

You sound like you're doing all good things to fight it, and you've gotten some great additional tips. I would only add that in addition to medicine, the old fashioned methods of breathing steam 2 or 3 times a day (boiling water in a bowl with a towel over the head and bowl) and Vick's Vapor Rub on the chest also helped me.

Praying you feel better soon! (Sorry to hear about your van, too! Transmission problems - Ugh!)
