Twitter

Collin is my bird-man. He's had this interest for several years, filling feeders, reading field guides, and even following these feathered creatures. Earlier in the spring, he discovered a robin's nest, and kept careful watch.

Soon there were four eggs in the nest. And the countdown began. He checked the nest consistently, until one day he found three babies, and one unhatched egg. Several hours later, the fourth baby appeared.

He watched them so closely,  they thought he might be their mama! And then one day, just as our book predicted, they jumped from the nest when Abigail checked on them. Oh! How worried were all were. They ran all over the yard, this way and that, and even went under the deck.

And just when we were sad to see the baby season go, he found another nest.

This time, it's a chipping sparrow, and she has parked herself in one of our barberry bushes.

Her eggs were gorgeous! She's been quite protective, but moved to allow us a peek at her new little brood!

Aren't they adorable? The one on the left has quite the striking hair-do!

So adorable and some amazing pictures to say the least! Love the egg colors! The hair-do of the one bird on the left (last pic) looks like that 'boxing promoter'..can't recall his name just now. ;o)

My husband watched his blue birds hatch 4 babies and then watched them fledge. He cleaned out their bird house and is hoping they will build yet another nest this year. Now he feeds his blue birds each day from millworms he raises for just that purpose. He loves his birds.

That's really quite amazing!

We don't put out anything to attract birds. The first ones to come would be the cockatoos. Wretched, obnoxious things that they are. We'd really prefer they'd keep themselves up the other end of the valley.

AWESOME pics!!! I will be showing these to the boys tomorrow as they are avid bird watchers. We searched but couldn't find any nests this year.

The first thing I thought when I saw the title to this post was that you were talking about the other blogging thing out there called Twitter. I'm not familiar with that or Facebook, but I'm seeing it everywhere. I like the "twitter" of birds better. They are cute little things, and that hair cracks me up! How neat that you could get that close for pictures.

Oh how wonderful and such great pics too!

Now this the kind of "twittering" that I can really appreciate! Much better, in my opinion, than tracking every minute thought and action of my own life on the internet, or watching other's track theirs. :-)
