Photo Challenge: Berries

Each week since she has started it, I've wanted to take place in Rebecca's photo challenge. I've finally taken a few shots worthy of participating.

Holly Berries: This was taken last Saturday morning while watching my husband run a four mile race. The temperature was in the low 40's as Abigail, Collin and I cheered him on. Seeing this holly bush reminded me that Christmas is on its way.

Crab apples: Are crab apples berries? I'm thinking no, but they have a berry-like appearance, so I used them anyway.

The spider insisted on being photographed, as well.

Pokeweed berry : Poisonous, but pretty berries. While I was researching the correct name for these berries, I learned that while you don't want to eat the berries, the leaves are edible, and are similar to spinach. You must boil them twice, discarding the water from the first boiling. Nice to know, but I'm not going to try it!

GREAT PHOTOS, Tracy!!! I love the first one especially! My FIL was just mentioning to me about some plants that are like itch weed and will make you break out, yet can be made into teas etc...interesting stuff! I'm going to start reading up on edible plants more!

Blessings!
Amy

Tracy~I have a confession to make.

I was HOPING you would join us and often wondered if I might personally invite you...but then thought that might be pressuring you and that is never any fun.

SO glad you decided to participate! Your very talented...and it has been passed down...I have been admiring Collins beautiful photography.

I am SO jealous about those holly plants. I WISH I had access to them so I could make some fresh holly wreaths for the door!

Beautiful photos. Funny though ~ our holly berries come out in the middle of the year ... our winter. Berries on the holly has nothing to do with Christmas for us!

Tracy,

Those are very nice - I love holly...used to have quite a bit at our old place...none here. I will need to remedy that soon! I love the way it looks in the winter with snow on it!

All of your pics are awesome but I have to admit- I love the holly berry one because it reminds me of the beauty of Christmas! I don't know what took you so long to join though, your pics are wonderful :)

Oh these are so beautiful! I love the one of the holly the most! It brings back such memories of when we lived in North Carolina so many years ago!! We had a HUGE holly bush right outside my bedroom window. During the winter it had a pair of cardinals who spent hours flitting from branch to branch! Thank you so very much!
