Sweet Sourdough
Mac has been attending church in Nashville, and we went with him about 6 weeks ago. We were invited to the pastor's house for Sunday dinner following worship. The entire meal was delicious from start to finish, including the bread. I emailed Deborah for the recipe, and it was then that she informed me it was sweet sourdough, and that I would need a starter.
She could send one with Mac one Sunday. (Ummm... do you think a male college freshman living in a dorm room is going to feed a sourdough starter properly? Me either.) Or she could give me a starter the next time we visited. I chose the second option.
I received my starter this past weekend, and finally got to bake my bread this morning. It was worth the wait!

I am sourdough starter incompetent. Although I consider myself talented in the kitchen in lots of other ways it has never worked out for me. Hopefully yours will turn out much much better.
I was just watching the bread making dvd from Franklin Springs. The West ladies were showing how to make sourdough starter and how to use it...I am going to try it one of these days.
It looks delicious. I made sourdough starter and we really like sourdough. Unfortunately, I let mine die. I'll have to start it again.
I've never been able to keep a starter around. It always goes bad:-(
It looks delicious!

Your bread looks yummy. Don't suppose you could be convinced to share the recipe?
I am officially jealous! Starter has not been an area of success for me, even though I have tried repeatedly.
Happy baking! And eat some bread for me. :)

There is absolutely nothing like fresh bread from the oven. Yours looks great!
