Photo Challenge: Hearts
My last several week's worth of posts have been full of hearts, and I feared that I had used them all up. Not so!
The bridge of Autumn's cello.
I went to bed shortly after midnight last Friday, and Verne was still working on the fireplace. He crawled into bed around 5:30 AM, but not before he carved our names into the scratch coat. He was dead on his feet, but still took the time to do something he knew I would gush over. He's just sweet like that.
Our bedroom is off the dining room, so the first thing I saw when I woke up Saturday morning was that big heart on the fireplace. Of course, I melted. And upon closer inspection, I saw that he decorated the scratch coat on the hearth, too. No matter that it is now covered under mortar and rock, I saw it all day long, and I still know it's there.
When he was home for Christmas break, Mac mentioned that he always wanted one of those big cookies from the mall when he was younger. I filed that away, and baked him one for Valentine's Day. I shipped it in a new pizza box for a special surprise.
While Verne was working so hard on the fireplace, I made him some yummy cupcakes to give him energy. And just for fun, I decorated the platter with chocolate syrup hearts.

Tracy, I love all your hearts!!! Don't you just love February? I mean we love everyone all year long, but it's a wonderful month to really focus on it! That was so sweet of Verne to write those messages in stone to last forever!
You guys cherish and honor each other so well.
I love the hearth heart sentiments.. you really did find some excellent hearts!
Your pictures are all wonderful, and your husband is so very romantic..You are blessed :) Great job on all the pics! :)
Your husband is KILLING ME here! I think every woman who is reading your blog must wipe the drool from the keyboard as we leave.
Those cupcakes, Tracy, look professionally done. I have to try piping icing on sometime---what a difference!
PS. I read a comment of your on Jemit's blog about nasty candy hearts and laughed because the very same thing happened to us. I was craving them (big time) and picked up four bags of them and when I got home they tasted fruity and sour-not at all like the pure sugar/chalk that I love so much! hehehe
NOW_what am I going to do with four bags of nasty candy hearts?!?!
Rebecca,
I bought FOUR bags, too! And I can't even get the kids to eat the first bag. YUCK.
Ah, that is just so sweet! I love it. I would never, ever want to move again. lol!
Those cupcakes look delicious. I love how you put the chocolate syrup hearts on the plate.
Oh my! I cant think of anything else to say - how fabulous - all of it - yours is my favourite post this week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to agree with Rebecca about all of us wiping the drool off our keyboards!
I never fail to leave your blog without being hungry, beautiful pictures!
My favorite is the cello heart. The angle you used it so neat with the strings blurred. I also liked the cupcakes. Oh my!!!! So beautiful looking.
I love the picture of my cello-and the cupcakes. They were tasty. =)
Tracy, I love your photos. The food pictures are worthy of being in a magazine.
My husband and I have been together for 25 years and he still does things that make my heart glad.
Thanks for sharing! Enjoy your fireplace! I'm getting ready to light mine right now. Rain is right offshore.

Just GORGEOUS pictures with a beautiful story behind them...I might have to steal some of your ideas for next Valentines! :D
You're so lucky to have such a wonderful husband - I'm rather jealous. I hope one day to find a man who treats me half as well as Verne treats you. You're very blessed.
Thank you for the little romance story, sigh. Those cupcakes look amazing, mmmm.
You and Verne are adorable and creative!!! :)
