Education Pays. Sometimes.

Abigail and Collin were recently given writing assignments in which they had to write to a company that they liked. Abigail chose JustBorn candy company and told them how much she enjoyed their products, their packaging, etc. She specifically told them that she liked Mike and Ikes and Hot Tamales. Several weeks passed and an express mail package arrived with her name on it. She was thrilled to open it and find a letter along with an assortment of candies.

Collin received a letter back today. His company, which shall remain nameless, clearly did not read his letter thoroughly. They wrote about something entirely different than what he addressed. And he didn't get any coupons or samples. Bummer. I'm happy to report, that even before Collin got his letter, Abigail was kind enough to share, counting every last candy and making sure that everyone got their share. She doesn't need candy to make her sweet. She was JustBorn that way!

What a sweet girl!

Poor Collin! Maybe he should write to a new company!

Boy, I should start a letter writing habit! lol

It is so wonderful to hear about caring and loving siblings...such as those who live at your home.

Sounds like some good lessons learned!

I once called a company to tell them how much I disliked their cereal, and they still sent me coupons! :-/

Love JB!!

What a wonderful surprise for Abigail. I hope someone in the company that Collin wrote to will find that letter and read it properly.

I was the editor in chief of our home school co-op's newsletter/journalism class during GW Bush's election. We had dedicated an issue to the campaign/election and when we finished we sent a copy to the White House. Within a few weeks I received a letter, and a hand signed President George W. Bush photo. A few weeks after that I also got the standard photos/letter with a printed signature, but I'll always treasure the first one since it was addressed to me and hand signed!

It's such an awesome feeling to know that someone who's very busy takes time to read your letter, pays attention, and responds. I'm sure Abigail was tickled pink!!

Wow, how cool! I love the title of your post, too. :-) As being a person who has $40,000 in loans between my husband and I from attending a private Christian college for two years, we're finding that our education hasn't paid out very well. Hoping that some day, we'll make enough to live on and be out of our school debt. :-( Boo. So thanks for the reminder that school can be kept simple and reap happy rewards...like candy!

Tracy,
Love your blog! THanks so much for sharing. Is it at all possible to put a warning with the spider pics? I'm too afraid to open your blog to the most recent posts.
Sorry if that's a bother.
