A Photo Journey

One of my hobbies is amateur photography. No, I'm really not any good, but it is fun. I've started a new blog called A Photo Journey. It seems like there are times that I take a picture and it really doesn't go with anything that I am writing about on this blog, so now my photos can have a home.

Until recently, I was forever protesting digital cameras. I loved my Pentax, and swore that I would NEVER make the switch to digital. You know what they say about never say never? It's true. I finally broke down at the end of February and bought my new toy. It's at the upper end of the lower end cameras. After researching Consumer Reports, I decided on a Kodak Easy Share C875. I'm very happy with my decision. Yes, I could have spent a LOT more money, and in return had a much better camera, but like I said, I already have a great 35mm, so this suits me just fine.

I still prefer traditional printing. I haven't seen digital prints from any kind of printer that look great. That's really important to me. How about you? Do you prefer traditional, or digital photography?

Well, I have a 35 mm Rebel something or another (can't remember the name) and I was the same way in not wanting to go digital because of how I thought digital pictures looked. I had my digital camera (also a Kodak Easyshare) for months before using it because I liked taking the film, having it developed, and having the actual prints in my hands. But finally, I took the plunge and started using my digital camera. I ordered my first prints online from Kodak and I was so impressed with the quality. They were every bit as good, if not better, than what I was getting at my local store. I haven't touched my regular camera in a year and a half! Now I wished I had a better digital camera!! I love picking out only the best prints and placing my order from home. It's so convenient and then it's easy to share my pictures online or on my blog.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Kodak Easy Share Digital Camera. Digital is wonderful. I can take 300 pictures on a vacation (which I have done) and print 75 of them because the others are not as good. I don't waste film or money. It is great. I can take silly pictures, really dumb things, and post them on my site, or email them to a friend, and scrap them from the camera and never have to deal with them again.

I don't print my own. I send them from my computer to the coputer at Walmart, and have them develop them and mail them to my door a week later. Easy, breezy, cheap! I find the quality to be just as good.

We absolutely love our digital camera. It is so great to be able to view the pictures and then print the good one and delete the rest.
That is exactly what we didn't like
about a normal camera..that you take many pictures that aren't that great and waste film and waste money developing the pictures too.

I do think we may need another new camera sometime in the future. This one is taking pretty good photos right now.

I have been having lots of fun taking many more photos than I have for awhile since I started blogging. I love having all the photos of my family. They make wonderful memories.

I love, love my Kodak Easy Share Digital Camera. You can get Kodak to print them out for you and they are just the same quality as any regular photo.

My husband does some semi-professional photography work on the side and was in need of a new camera right in time to have to decide digital or film. He opted digital and has never looked back. The ease of integrating photography and computers just makes it so wonderful! No more money wasted on film. Photos can be edited with the touch of a few buttons. No more sorting through stacks of negatives to find that one picture, they are all neatly filed on our computer and easy to browse. A photo slideshow can easily be created. I can select, order and receive prints all from the comfort of my own home ( a big plus for a momma of little ones!).
His camera is a pretty nice one, so the quality is excellent, especially when we get our prints done on professional paper from a pro lab in town.

I wasn't sure which blog to comment on! Your pictures are beautiful. My daughter is a photography major in college and owns SO many cameras. I absolutely love looking at other people's pictures. I, myself, have a hand-me-down digital (which was my daughters :)) after saying I would never have anything other than a film camera. It is so much fun! I am actually going to buy a better, newer camera this summer.

I will be back to visit. I can't wait to see your latest photos.

My husband bought me a digital over a year ago but we need to get a lot better taking pictures. Blogging is helping us at least use it more!!!

We like our Kodak Easyshare too! Oh how simple things have gotten. And, what a fun idea to share your "photo journey" with us. I look forward to more "Tracy pics!"

I love digital photography. LOVE it. I love the feeling of being able to take 40 pictures of the Baby, for example, knowing smugly that I haven't just wasted several rolls of film. But yes, printing is a bit of a pain. I know several pro photographers and they only use digital cameras now without any problems in photo quality - I should find out which printers they use!

Well, both have their advantages and disadvantages to me. I love holding the pictures in my hands. However, I'm TERRIBLE about doing anything with them. I have a huge tub full of pictures waiting for a photo album home. On the flip side, I love the digital camera because I can share my pictures online with my friends and I don't have to figure out where to put them. Sooooo, I'm just not sure which I prefer....

Hi Tracy,
I'm very happy about switching to digital camera because it saved me a whole lot of trial and error and wasted film. :) Good luck!

A wonderful posting.

I am new to digital photography - as you can see by the photo's.

I still have a loyalty to my 35mm and the quality of prints too.

I could never go back to film. I love digital for the instant satisfaction of knowing whether or not I captured the shot I was after. I love being able to take multiple pics and just deleting the ones I don't care for...at no additional cost. I love editing and "tweeking" pictures in our Photoshop software. When I shoot weddings, I can easily take 800-1,000 in a 3 or 4 hour period... all digital and easy to edit or enhance. The down side is digital is much more "unforgiving" with the lighting. We own two Canon digitals and one Sony. I certainly share your love of photography! Enjoy! Diane
