Sewing Skirts and Strawberries
Do you love skirts? Do you hate spending lots of money on a sewing pattern? My friend Jennifer turned me on to this awesome book, Sew What! Skirts. I love this book. It teaches you how to draft a pattern for 16 different skirts. Some don't even take a pattern, like the ones that I made!

Very pretty skirts! A strawberry...brown sugar...and sour cream?? Are you sure about that? Hmmmmmm....
I grew up wearing skirts like these which my mother made. Being raised in New Mexico they were called Squaw Skirts and were patterned after the skirts worn by the Indians.
The two you made are lovely and your "model" is precious.

I LOVE the skirts! The girls look so summer-y and happy!
Very lovely - and she looks like she's having so much fun making them twirl!
I'll have to remember this book for when Elle gets bigger.
Leigh Ann,
This book is actually for ladies skirts, but that's the beauty of it. You can adapt the patterns to fit ANYONE!
Lovely skirts!!!!
And no, I've never tried strawberries with brown sugar and sour cream. Sounds weird, but I always like to try something new because I just may love it! Interesting!
Have a great Monday!
Abigail's skirts are so fun! I really like the colors and the fabrics you chose. Very pretty!!!
The skirts turned out great!!! Loved your color combinations---so fresh looking!
Okay, where did you get the idea about brown sugar and sour cream? I will have to try it to believe it is good....
Have a blessed week!
I love these skirts! So nice and summery!
Soon, our sewing machine will be placed in the sunny spot we planned for it in the new apartment, and it will keep working away, day after day...
Those skisst are so pretty. You are really talented.
No I have never dipped a strawberry into sour cream and brown sugar; but I will have to try it.
Skirts are lovely and your daughter actually thinks so too.
Those are adorable skirts!!! You are so talented...
gotta try the strawberry thing, honestly never heard of that one before!
I love those skirts! I have seen good reviews of that book on other blogs, but haven't actually seen completely skirts. Yours are lovely. I think my girls would love them.
Also, yes, I LOVE strawberries with the brown sugar and sour cream. Actually, I can just eat sour cream off of my finger. Disgusting, huh? It is one of my favorite condiments.
Oh! I've been admiring that book and it's so good to hear that it's worth buying - I'm putting it into my amazon cart RIGHT NOW!
I love skirts and so do Grace and Emily! I love the ones you made, they are so pretty and summery!!
No, I have never tried a brown sugar dipped strawberry in sour cream. I like all three separate though so maybe I should try them together! Speaking of brown sugar, have you ever had a thin layer on hot buttered toast? It's yummy. :0)

First of all, you are a wonderful seamstress!! Very cute pattern and FUN fabric!!!
I LOVE strawberries with sour cream and brown sugar!! I'm not sure where you live, but I grew up in Georgia and had NEVER heard of doing such a thing until a friend that had moved down from Minnesota invited me over to eat with their family. For dessert, her mother had a HUGE tray of strawberries and lots of sour cream and brown sugar. I thought they were nuts UNTIL I TRIED IT!! YUM-O!!! They all laughed at me and said something about it being a "Minnesota thing". Hmmmm...
Anyway, I'm hooked and STILL eat strawberries this way!!!

Mrs. U,
Thanks for your sweet comments. I'm not from Minnesota, but Pennsylvania. However, I no longer live there. I learned this wonderful combination while living in Dayton, Ohio.
I no longer live there either! Now, I'm one state south!
What pretty skirts! Great job!
Praying for y'all and the decision to seek and obey the Lord.

Oh-so-lovely! (And the skirts are pretty, too!) Really, though, I'm so impressed! I want to learn to sew.
And the strawberry - well, let's just say that I just came back after running out to check if any of our strawberries are ready yet. Alas, they are not. But you can bet I'm gonna be dippin' 'em in brown sugar and sour cream when they are! ;)
Never tried the brown sugar and sour cream. Sounds like an interesting combination.
Love the skirts. And Abigail looks adorable in them.
I am glad to be home and back in the swing of things.
