Let Your Light Shine

Sometimes, when you are in the middle of your life, you feel that it is more ordinary than extraordinary. Especially when you are a stay at home wife and mother. I love my life. I wouldn't change the day to day routine, but, maybe because of all of the feminism in the world, I am often surprised that others would find my life appealing. I know that women in my position are often looked down upon. I wake each day to care for my family, and I enjoy it. I can hear the feminists now, "Oh, that poor woman." I am overjoyed by each visitor to my humble little piece of the blogosphere, and their encouraging comments.

Have you every hopped around, from blog to blog, and seen your blog listed on some one's sidebar? Or have you been reading a blog, and then up pops a mention of your name? It's really a wonderful, and for me, humbling feeling. Sometimes, I see these things and think, "I had no idea that this person even knew that I existed!" No, I don't feel proud, but rather almost embarrassed and self-conscious that anyone would care what I have to say. It makes me realize, too, how careful we need to be with our words, for we never know how we will touch someone, or the influence that our words will have. I hope that my words are encouraging, and show my love for my God and my family.

That is precisely what happened to me today. I was reading through some of my Bloglines subscriptions, and came to Little Cabin in the Woods. Patricia is a blessed woman, who knows it. She has the most beautiful children, and a quiet life. Her photography is beautiful(of course, so are the subjects). I read her all the time, but don't know if I've ever commented. I do that alot, by the way. So today, I hopped on over to Patricia's blog, and gasp! There she had me listed as a blog that she loves. I was shocked, because I didn't know that she knew who I was, and I was touched.

I am pleasantly surprised that anyone would ever want to read what I write, and that they would find me at all interesting. And I'm so very pleased that there are so many women in this world who value the same things that I do; women who aren't ashamed of their vocation of caring for their families. I'm so thankful for each of you! To God be the glory as you let your lights shine!

Oh Tracy, I just love this post. I've often felt the exact same way but haven't been able to put it into words.

I especially liked:

I am pleasantly surprised that anyone would ever want to read what I write, and that they would find me at all interesting.

It describes perfectly how I feel.

Thank you!

Blessings,
~Mrs.B

PS--Love the new blog look. Your blog is very easy to read, easy on the eyes and I think the header and your avatar are very pretty. (o:

Tracy,

I do love your blog and I visit here often. And, if I ever get around to putting a blogroll on my blog, I'd want to put you on it! It is so encouraging to me too to find other women online who love to be home and take care of their families. Keep up the good work!

Tracy, you KNOW you're in my blogroll. It's just not listed. You're one of the ones I check every day, sometimes more. ;0)
You have such a sweet heart and it shines through in all you post.

I'm also the same way. I wonder why anyone would want to read anything I have to say. Funny world, this blogging. I love it, and I love the friends that I've made here.

You echoed how I feel. I am always shocked when someone tells me that they read my blog!

I admire how positive and encouraging you are-you always have a fresh outlook.

Tracy,
That is so funny because I feel the same way! What is so interesting about my life that anyone wants to read about it?
I have been on both sides (feminist and feminine). I much prefer the feminine and enjoy staying home and taking care of my family. I am very content. :-)
I enjoy reading your blog, because you are so real.
