A Pretty Shade of Blue

Simplicity 3827

I started out to make a wearable muslin for myself, and even though I made the d-cup, it was still too tight in the bust. I tried it on as soon as I had the bodice made and found that it was going to be a problem, but instead of throwing in the towel I finished it for Autumn, and it fits her beautifully.

Overall, I loved this pattern. It went together beautifully. Even the side zipper! The princess seams are slimming, and the style is classic. My loss was definitely Autumn's gain.

I really like the feminine lines of this dress. Autumn looks lovely wearing it. :o)

Can you alter the pattern to compliment your needs? It sure is a nice pattern.

I love those--what are they called, princess seams? I haven't sewn in a long time, but I used to do a lot of it. (I even made my own wedding dress without a pattern, just my mother's dress to use as a model.) That is a very nice, feminine pattern.

I *love* this style of dress. You're right, very slimming and quite feminine as well. Just lovely. I hope you can make one for yourself as well. (o:

I have this pattern! I just haven't made the dress yet! I'm glad you gave a warning about the cup size, I'll take note of that before I begin.

Very sweet dress. I, too, love those princess seams. I also like the fact that dresses are actually becoming popular again and you can find so many great patterns!

Congrats to Autumn on her cello debut!

Tracy, I have this very same pattern that I was going to make a dress for myself or maybe the top & skirt (haven't quite decided yet) because I'm making a dress right now for Terri. I liked the style. It so funny that we both picked the same pattern. It looks good on Autumn. She's a blessed daughter to have a seamstress like you for a mom or is it mum?

It looks very pretty on Autumn, and I'm sure she's happy to have a new dress, too.
I'm glad to know about the bodice, as I also have that pattern, but haven't used it yet. I like seeing them made up, so I can really see what it will look like when I make it.

What a lovely dress, Tracy! And your daughter is blessed by the muslin that you made, I am certain. I wrote down the pattern number that you used, because I really like this style, too. I need to make myself a dress form first, though, so that fitting those princess seams on myself goes faster this time. Do you have any tips for fitting princess seams more easily?
