Simplicity 2906

I've sewn a fair share of skirts in December and January, but this is the first one for me. I thought the pattern looked quick and easy. It was easy, and it would have been a whole lot quicker had I hung for 48 hours to let the bias stretch rather than 2 weeks! But hey, the hem looks great.

I lengthened the pattern to make the skirt end at the bottom of my calf rather than my knee, and I like how the skirt hangs at the longer length. The soft flannel will be perfect for these cold days.

I love the plaid on the bias, though Grandma thinks it's very loud. I'm wearing it tomorrow, for Super Bowl Sunday, with a royal blue twinset. It's the exact colors of the Steelers' hypercycloid!

The Steelers... is that a football team? hehe running and ducking. :o)

Love the skirt, Tracy. The colors are vibrant and the skirt hangs beautifully. I wear my skirts a bit longer so your idea to lengthen this pattern was a good one, imho. I may pick up this pattern.

May the best team win---- WHO is playing ???.....
I love love love that skirt...and flannel--I have been thinking some flannel skirts for winter---or even home comfort---
Think you will be making a superbowl statement tomorrow--huh?

The skirt looks great ~ I like a longer length too. Don't worry though. It took me two MONTHS to finish a dress!

Football *sigh* I avoid grand final day and find something else to do. I can't imagine the hype of superbowl on top of it all LOL.

Great skirt!

Regarding "the big game".....my boys are hoping on the Cardinals. However, I don't really care. Steelers coach is a William & Mary grad, so that does count for somethng in my book. :-)

Would you , Autumn and Abigail like to swap some yarn?

Hey what a wonderful way to be feminine and still wear your team colors! So much more feminine than the woman at church today with a Steeler's t-shirt on!

um, I didn't know you had to hang fabric if using it n the bias....could you explain that to me so I know how an dwhy to do it next time?!?

Love the skirt! I so wish I could sew!

Ways of Zion,

Fabric on the bias stretches. If you hang it before you hem, you'll be fine. If not, the hem will fall, and be uneven. Hope this helps!
