Praying Mantis

This little guy visited our deck Saturday morning.

He was just as curious about me as I was about him. The closer I got, the more he responded.

When I zoomed in for a closer look and bent down next to him, he jumped right on top of my camera and that was the end of the photo shoot! Aren't God's creatures marvelous? Make sure to enlarge the pictures to see his beady little eyes.

Miss Mischief just turned around and saw this cute little guy. She loves cute bugs...not so much the nasty ones, but praying mantis's are cute, aren't they.

They are remarkably designed creatures! Love the pictures, Tracy. :o)

In response to Tracy's comment about Praying Mantis' being cute ... I had the misfortune of seeing a Mantis devour a grasshopper - alive. They're not so cute then...ew.

Praying mantis are called "Louva-Deus" in Portuguese. Literally: "Praise-the-Lord".

You take such lovely pictures!
