Photo Challenge: Lines

Caution tape

When thinking about lines, the St. Louis Arch comes to mind, and so I went and took some pictures!

The St. Louis skyline

The Arch

More of the same, but it's very cool at night!

Verne by the Arch

If you've never been here, it looks very small from far away. It's rather disappointing actually, and then you get up close to it, and it's quite large.

At night, the light is constantly changing and reflecting in different ways. See my shadow? I feel like Where's Waldo.

And a few other favorites from earlier in the week. Mac,

and bread, of course.

Have you been to the museum that is underneath the arch? Really cool Westward Expansion museum! Tim really wants to go up in the arch on that ride...he'll have to take one of the kids, cause I ain't going!

Great shots at night!

What an awesome view of the arch. I've never been there and would love to see it someday. I like the lines on the bread board too.

ooh, the one of the caution tape is beautiful, Tracy. also, have you been inside the arch? my grandparents were from st. louis, and before they passed we would visit them there every year or so. going inside the arch was one of my favorite (and most nervewracking) things to do! you can actually feel it sway in the wind a bit!!

The top two are my favorites. What great views and the amount of light on that caution tape is just perfect.

Is that artisan bread you have made? We had some HOT from the oven with dinner last night too!

The caution tape is great!
I visited the arch when I was 11. Thats where I learned I'm afraid of heights. I liked the museum underneath better....
Beautiful pictures Tracy!

I've flown over it but never seen it up close and personal. It is so awesome to see. I want to come to STL and see it in person.

Tracy ~ I keep meaning to share something every time I see Mac with the accordion.

Background: My father is a very accomplished guitarist. He taught himself as a boy and then proceeded to learn every instrument he desired. He wanted lessons more than anything - but his family had no money (another lengthy story in and of itself). So when he became a parent he made sure my sister and I had music lessons. In addition to that he continued to bring home all sorts of instruments for us [really for him - ;o)].

My sister - in addition to piano - took organ lessons. One day Dad brought home an accordion for her. We'll never really know whether she had it in her to play or not because e.v.e.r.y s.i.n.g.l.e time she attempted to practice our teeny, tiny dog (Miss Priss - or Prissy to her friends) would howl her little heart out. She was itty-bitty but so loud; it just never failed to bring us to tears in laughter.

And so each time you show Mac playing a polka ... it makes me smile!

Sorry to be a bit off topic. As always your photos are wonderful!

Enjoyed your pictures of the arch. I grew up on St Louis and was a little girl when they were building the arch. I remember checking the newspaper for the picture journal they had in there on the progress every week.

Several men were killed while involved in the building. You are right, it is quite an impressive structure. And the underground museum on Westward Expansion is really cool. I hope you visited there.
