Jams and Jellies

From the bushes,

to the kitchen,

to the table. We spent the evening picking berries with friends, and got started making jam around 9 PM. Bad idea. I had to bail at 1 AM because Mac had to be at work by 6. Thankfully, my friend Tina pulled an all-nighter and finished the job. She's a real trooper!

And then last night, because I was feeling left out of the canning process, I whipped up two batches of jalapeno jelly.

It's all so pretty in the early morning light...like liquid jewels in glass jars.

My Grandma used to love pepper jam - the hotter the better! :)

I love the way jam looks in the jars too!

Deby,

You can use the pepper jelly on top of a cracker with cream cheese, spread it on cornbread or muffins, serve it alongside meatloaf, etc.

Those look really great!
I've never had jalapeno jelly-what do you put it on?

Sorry-I didn't read the other comments before sending mine. I think on the crackers with cream cheese sounds really yummy!

Absolutely glorious, with the sun pouring through the window glass...through the myriad of colors...

It is lovely now, but in the winter, when today is but a memory, the color of those preserves will be a great pick-me-up...

I've gotten my strawberry jam up, but I need to get some blackberries picked (they weren't ready when I went out last...but I'm keeping my fingers crossed..)
