Good Morning, Glory

For several years now we've had a clematis planted in front of this trellis near out porch. It would grow 12-18 inches high, and then fizzle out. It never once flowered. I was tired of the disappointment, and grabbed two packs of seeds this year. One for morning glories, the other one moon flowers.

I tossed the packages to Collin one morning and asked him to plant them. And slowly, they grew. The vibrant green, heart-shaped leaves proved to be a charming backdrop for pictures of Autumn and Jon. Still, though, no flowers appeared.

Until this week, when we were greeted with a beautiful sapphire blue.

Glory, indeed!

Collin is bound and determined that the vines will climb up the pillars of the porch as well.

No moon flowers have yet appeared, but we have hope!

Your morning glories are so pretty. Mine have been a battle of the wills, I think. They are not loving the extreme heat we've had lately. They wilt even when they're drowning in water. I may give up on them next year.
You looked so happy on your anniversary post. Glad you had a wonderful time celebrating your marriage. And that store is too cute. I love to find out of the way places just like that.

Hi Tracy, Thanks for inviting me to follow your blog.

Funny post - here where I live (Sydney, Australia) morning glory is classified as a weed as it spreads like crazy and infiltrates everthing! I like it though.

I love Morning Glories! I often had this color too!

Warning they will grow and grow and wrap around and you will need to cut them off of whatever they have grown on! They are so lovely though!

Your morning glories on the trellis truly are lush. I was surprised to hear you planted moon flowers. I had not heard of them until this year when I planted seeds in a hanging basket. I was so disappointed that not even one plant sprouted. Glad to hear you were more successful.

Those are so beautiful, Tracy. I think mine get too much shade as they are not nearly as lovely. But still, one or two are there to greet me every day.

Have you ever seen Evening Primrose? You can literally sit beside them and watch them open every night as the sun goes down. It was quite an experience when we did that in Michigan many years ago. Just lovely, and really quite entertaining as we "bet" on which flower would open first.
