Backyard Picnic

Abigail has taken to the backyard with her dolls and a blanket the past several evenings following supper. Who can blame her? The air is cool, the crickets are chirping, and it's altogether pleasant.

I love this! I am so thankful for the innocense of a home schooled child. My girls, 16 and 18, just a few months back, dragged out all their dolls one evening, combing their hair, dressing them, poking through the many, many outfits I have sewn over the years. Just reminiscing of all their fun playtimes way back when. Little did they know that they were actually "playing" with their dolls that very night! What good memories! It's so fun to catch them still being young, isn't it?

This photo represents true biblical girlhood, in all its essence. Abigail is doing what a gal her age should be doing and not following the dark societal trends of so many girls her age. It is hard to believe that there are girls near her age who are dressing scantily, getting involved with drugs and headed down a path to ruin. So glad you are homeschooling her! It is paying off!

My cousins' dolls are still in use, girls of 14 and 17, and yes, they've been homeschooled . The older one (and their older sister) have been going to college now. Even public-schooled me didn't put her American Girls away until about age 15!

Darling!

My girls adore their dolls. Which reminds me we have a few that need to go to the doctor!

Thanks for sharing this precious photo!

What a perfect way to spend an evening! And I know those "girls" are perfect picnic guests-they don't eat much, smile a lot, and listen intently!
I remember still playing with my dolls when I was 14-and I still have my first Pooh bear (completely hairless-noseless-and with a 3 inch "wound" on his backside where a music box used to be). I love him just the same. :-)
I hope that Abigail will enjoy many more picnic evenings with her dolls.

That is a precious picture! Reminds me of times with my own girls! These days, there are no dolls...only trucks, puzzles and crayons. From our girls, came grandsons...and only one granddaughter!

BUT just for her, I keep some dolls.

I haven't been in a while, but need a sweet breath of fresh air! Found it RIGHT HERE!

You have beautiful lush grass for end-of-summer. At that stage of our year, the grass here is a sunburned dry brown.

Abigail looks entirely contented.
